Goosfest 2023 – Upcoming Events
Thanks for your support – here’s to Goosfest 2023!
Here’s a huge thank you from everyone on the Goosfest Committee for all your support for last year’s festival.
We broke another record. We sold out on virtually all our events – so that’s a good indication that we’re putting together the right mix of music, drama, arts and workshops to tickle everyone’s fancy in some shape or form.
This was our 15th Goosfest, and if we’re to continue providing this not-for-profit festival for the local community, we need more helpers. That’s not to say we haven’t enjoyed the help and support of a wonderful team of helpers last year, covering everything from providing food for entertainers to putting the chairs out in the village hall before an event. So, if you’d like to get involved we’d love to hear from you, to add your name to our merry band of helpers during the festival itself.
And if anyone has any ideas or requests for acts, events, and workshops for 2024, please get in touch, as we’re already starting to plan next year’s festival.
One of last year’s highlights was our wonderful art exhibition – ‘Art in the Barn‘ – at The Orchards Farm on Twemlow Lane. It attracted more than 600 people over two days, and also enabled some of the 16 North West artists exhibiting their work to make sales and new contacts.
Following on from this success, we have decided to consolidate and expand this as a stand-alone ‘Arts & Crafts’ weekend where we can enjoy all the exhibitions without other events going on. These events were all extremely popular and even caught the eye of Cheshire Life Magazine. Our new Arts and Craft Weekend will give everyone (including the Goosfest Committee!) time to catch their breath before the main festival begins on Friday 6th October. Given the extensive programme we have lined up for you this year, this is even more sensible!
Our only disappointment was lack of support for the children’s entertainment. If we’re to continue offering something to children and families, we need a rethink as to what form of entertainment local people might support. Any ideas or suggestions for 2024 are welcome!

Your Goosfest needs you!
In the meantime, if you’d like to be involved in any way, please get in touch. There are only a few of us on the Goosfest Committee and we need more help if we’re to continue in the years ahead. If you don’t fancy joining the Committee itself, there are other ways in which you can support the festival. We’re looking for:
- Practical help for events – helping to set up staging, chairs, tables etc for events in the Village Hall and at other venues
- Someone with experience in stage lighting, or a willingness and interest to learn, to assist our current lighting director
- Home cooks who might be willing to prepare a hot meal or buffet item, to be delivered to the venue for the artiste(s) on the night.
- Volunteers to help staff the bar (there’s a rota so even if you can support one event, it would be appreciated. The larger the team of volunteers, the fewer times we’ll need to ask for help)
- Accommodation for a performer. If you have a spare bedroom that a weary artiste could retire to, rather than a long journey back home after a performance, let us know. We appreciate that accommodating artistes depends on personal willingness to host, according to any local health-protection requirements at the time. Hopefully, the environment will be more conducive to hosting guests next year.
