Buzz Comedy Night

Our legendary Buzz Comedy Night is back again, having featured many comedians who have gone on to become ‘house-hold names’. This year, we have another amazing crop of excellent comedians, so this promises to be yet another night to remember.

This year’s headliner is Mike Wilkinson whose explanation for his view on humour is “Northern everyday life made me silly”

Full to the brim with down to earth Northern charm, Mike Wilkinson takes a bemused glance at the world and then throws it a smile. The laughs come thick and fast with Wilkinson’s dry humour and razor-sharp wit. A professional comic for over 20 years, Michael has supported Peter Kay, Johnny Vegas, and Ross Noble, and headlines comedy clubs across the country. Mike is also an accomplished pianist, guitarist, and bee-keeper!

Catherine Young, our middle act, appropriately comes from Middlesbrough! Winner of the ‘Hilarity Bites’ Act of the Year 2019, cheerful and chatty Catherine Young has absconded from the North East to entertain us with her vibrant personality and fearlessly dynamic performance.

Our opener is Andy White, a Brummie who combines silly voices and a mad ‘afro’ to devastating comic effect. Andy’s humour embraces impressions, funny faces, topical humour and his blended background. He can deliver material that is clever, cheeky, or just plain daft and his performance can shift from deadpan to physical humour. He is Winner of ‘Weakest Link Comedian’s Special, BBC.

A recent review says it all – “had me exercising my pelvic floor muscles to avoid an accident” – Karen Slater BBC Teesside

Our compère for the night is Mike Newall. He is living proof that some people are naturally funny. His laconic style, demeanour and strength of material ensure the audience never leaves disappointed.

“his timing is pin sharp, his control is deft, and his hair is immaculate” The Scotsman

“There’s something strangely elegiac about these modest little insights into his life that make them more than just average observational comedy” Chortle
