The Music and Life of Bob Dylan
This performance brings together two highly talented musicians and a former Cheshire Poet Laureate (and expert on the life of Robert Zimmerman AKA Bob Dylan). They will entertain and educate you about Bob Dylan and give you an insight into the music and enigmatic life of a man who went from being a major voice of the 1960’s protest movement to receiving the Nobel Prize for literature in 2016.
Rik Roberts is a graduate of Birmingham Conservatoire and a former ‘Young Musician of the Year’ contestant. He studied with international classical guitarists Craig Ogden and Simon Dinnigan and composers Andrew Downes and John Mayor. In his solo concert performances he combines both classical and cross-over repertoire covering a wide range of styles from Baroque to Blues, Classical, Spanish, Jazz and Folk.
Les Renshaw is also a highly talented guitarist from the North West who plays regularly in several jazz and guitar groups that perform in the Greater Manchester area. Les and Rik have recently put together a programme relating to the music and songs of Bob Dylan.
John Lindley is well known to Goosfest and Cheshire audiences for his excellent poetry which is now receiving the national recognition it deserves. John was a former Cheshire Poet Laureate and he has published numerous anthologies with critical acclaim. John has also recently released a CD of his own songs. One of John Lindley’s other great passions is the life of Bob Dylan. His knowledge about this iconic figure is encyclopaedic which extends to an analysis and interpretation of his words and songs.
This promises to be a unique experience which will be both entertaining and illuminating!
