Lost in Papua New Guinea - Benedict Allen.
In collaboration with the Royal Geographical Society with IBG.
In partnership with the Royal Geographic Society we are proud to end the main events of Goosfest ’18 with a lecture delivered by Benedict Allen. This will be suitable for families with children over the age of 10 years.
Benedict Allen is one of the world’s leading explorers, famous for his technique of not taking a GPS, phone or normal “backup” but instead relying on skills he has learnt from indigenous people. He has published ten books – two of them best sellers – & made seven TV series for the BBC.
With his usual enthusiasm and humour, Benedict shares the true story of his recent expedition to the remotest forests of Papua & New Guinea, a daring journey to locate people who befriended him 35 years ago, & which created headlines around the world when he became gravely ill & was “rescued” by a tabloid newspaper.
Benedict Allen TV shows include:
- Edge of Blue Heaven – a journey through Mongolia on camel & horseback
- Skeleton Coast – with three camels including the indomitable Nelson
- Ice Dogs – a journey of 1000 miles though Russia in the Worst Winter in living memory, completed with the help of his loyal dog team
and more recently –
- Birds of Paradise, the Ultimate Quest – A journey in search of these elusive birds along with the BBC’s wheelchair-bound Security Correspondent Frank Gardner.
